People see the trophies and assume talent. The real reason is less exciting: at cadet college I said yes to every stage, and I prepared for each one as if it were the only one.

Faujdarhat Cadet College runs on competition. There's always a debate, an essay contest, a drill parade or a quiz. Most cadets pick one lane. I couldn't. Writing, speaking, leading, building: each one taught me something the others needed.

Counting everything since, I have more than twenty awards and recognitions, from the cadet college parade ground to the British Council and The Economist Educational Foundation. Here they are, and what each one actually taught me.

Leadership

  • Best Cadet — Faujdarhat Cadet College

  • Best Commander — Novices' Drill Competition, Faujdarhat Cadet College

  • Full Level Award, International School Award — British Council, for leading a project activity

Lesson: people follow the person who prepared the hardest, not the one who talks the loudest.

Academics

  • JSC Board Scholarship (2017) — Chittagong Board

  • SSC Board Scholarship (2020, GPA 5) — Chittagong Board

Writing

  • Best Article Award — English Article Writing, Faujdarhat Cadet College

  • Runner-Up — English Essay Writing, Faujdarhat Cadet College

  • Winner — Global Day Essay Competition, Independent University, Bangladesh

Lesson: write for one reader. It's the same rule I use for every sales page today.

Debate, discussion and diplomacy

  • Editor's Pick Award — Project Discussion, Topical Talk by The Economist Educational Foundation

  • Outstanding Student Award — Project Debate, Topical Talk by The Economist Educational Foundation

  • Special Mention — BUP International Model United Nations Conference 2020, Bangladesh University of Professionals

  • Delegate of Myanmar, UN Women committee — Changers International Model UN 2020

Lesson: you can't persuade a room until you can argue the other side better than they can.

Quiz, ideas and media

  • GSG Quiz Winner — National Quiz Competition, Independent University, Bangladesh

  • Most Innovative Idea — Idea Sprint, Presidency International School (Cambridge Assessment International Education), with Team Xerox

  • Judges' Choice Award — video editing, Quarantine Productive Fest by Engage

  • Recognition in awareness video competitions — during my cadet years

Faith and games

  • 1st place — Azan and Qirat Competition, Faujdarhat Cadet College

  • Runner-Up, Senior Group — Carrom, Faujdarhat Cadet College

“Say yes to the stage. Then prepare like it's the only one.”

The habit behind all of it

Every prize followed the same loop: read what the judges reward, practise in short daily blocks, get feedback early, and walk in already having done it ten times in your head. It's the loop I used for medical admission, and the one I teach at SRAIK. Talent opens the door. The loop gets you on the stage.
